Wilderness at Risk

Wilderness is "an area where the Earth and its community of life are untrammeled by man, where man himself is a visitor who does not remain." Ripple Hollow contains a valuable mineral called silica, which is owned by a private mining company. Ripple Hollow also sees a lot of illegal ATV (all-terrain vehicle use). Without official designation, Ripple Hollow is at risk of losing its wild character.
