Congratulations! You are at the threshold of one of the most influential actions you can take for our environment. By communicating your concern about the issues you find here to your elected officials, you will have a profound effect on the decisions they make. Often as few as a handful of phone calls and letters will garner the support of your representative. Because so few constituents muster the courage to communicate, our representatives are not only glad to hear from us, they take it very seriously when some of us do. So choose an issue that is important to you, and make it important to them too!

I-TAN Alerts on Illinois and Federal Alerts

In the table above are three types of Alerts: Woods & Wetlands E-Mail Action Alerts, W&W Initiatives, and I-TAN Alerts. The "E-Mail Action Alerts" present all the past and present alert e-mails sent to members on the ALERTS list. "W&W Initiatives" feature informational webpages about environmental issues occurring in our territory, each championed by a few local members (like you!).

Members are invited and encouraged to join the W&W group's e-mail distribution lists.

On the ALERTS list you will receive infrequent timely posts from the Group Chair, primarily on local issues. These alerts appear on this website, and if you subscribe you will receive them in time to help. Also, if you are a W&W Sierra Club member, you can get your W&W News quicker, and save us printing and mailing costs by reading it on-line. On the ALERTS list you will find out when a new issue has been placed on the website. To stop delivery of the paper version, use your membership number instead of your last name when you subscribe to the ALERTS list.

The ISSUES list allows you to share in a discussion with other W&Wers.

To sign up, click LISTS, and then, for each one you want to try out, insert your name into these commands in the body of the message :

SUB IL-WWG-ALERTS firstname lastname (or firstname membership#)

SUB IL-WWG-ISSUES firstname lastname

and send the message.
