The Lake County Framework Plan is the basic document that describes the county's vision for the future, and defines its goals and policies. The county is presently updating their Framework Plan, and is asking for public input. So far we have reviewed the following chapters. Please read our comments and voice your concerns to help steer the County to protect our environment:

We are concerned that this draft chapter reflects undue influence by the Tollway’s LCTIP, and, other than the reference to the notoriously flawed draft EIS in the LCTIP, neglects the severe environmental impacts of its transportation plans. The resulting draft goals and policies lack concrete measures to achieve balanced transportation choices for Lake County’s maturing communities.

W&W has reviewed Chapter 4 of the draft, entitled Environmental Resources, Open Space, and Farmland. We found that it expresses a clear intent to preserve the environmental resources, open space, and farmland of Lake County, and a substantial amount of useful reference information, but that it is undermined by pejorative language, contrary perspective, and misleading data. The resulting draft goals and policies are thus poorly founded and insufficient to achieve the intent.
Our detailed review of this chapter seeks an improved representation and characterization of our present understanding of the county’s natural resources, reveals and corrects systematic errors in thinking, and offers information to support successful preservation of our communities in this rich environment.
