Before

Facing SSE, on the S edge of farm fields NE of Sun Lake.

Rather than working E along the edge of the farm field, we worked S toward Sun Lake where rare plants are growing. 
 

After

Six of us cleared about a half an acre in this direction, but much of it is hidden by buckthorn trees in the foreground.

We cleared buckthorn to reach the base of this shagbark hickory.

After

In September we'll widen the hole we punched through the buckthorn to liberate the entire base of this big tree.
