Remodeling? Check out ReStore!
Environmentally
conscious homeowners now have an important resource in the
Fox Valley when doing home repairs or remodeling. Habitat
for Humanity’s ReStore, a recycled building material store,
is located at 860 North State Street in Elgin.
ReStore
keeps tons of building materials out of landfills by taking
donated items from contractors, remodelers, manufacturers,
distributors,
and homeowners – much of which would otherwise be destined
for the landfill. The materials are then sold to the general
public at bargain prices. Proceeds support the building of
Habitat homes in Kane County.
Habitat
for Humanity operates ReStores around the country, but the
Elgin store is the first in Chicago’s western suburbs. The
ReStore concept is a win/win situation for everyone
involved. For those donating material, they get a tax
deduction, plus peace of mind knowing that they are keeping
it out of the landfill. Those purchasing home repair
material are getting great deals, plus supporting the
building of Habitat homes.
ReStore
has new and gently used windows, doors, cabinetry, plumbing
supplies, tile, sheet vinyl, carpet, furniture, tools, light
fixtures, and much more. Since all items are donated, the
inventory changes constantly.
ReStore
is located on Rt. 31, 1 mile south of I-90, next to the
Elgin Discount Market. Hours are W-Th, 10-6; F 10-5; Sa 9-4,
and can be reached at (847) 742-9905.

store's web site is at:
