The Sierra Club's members are 700,000 of your friends and
neighbors. Inspired by nature, we work together to protect our communities
and the planet. The Club is America's oldest, largest and most influential
grassroots environmental organization.
The Sangamon Valley chapter believes in protecting our precious environment while enjoying it's wondrous bounty. Our priorities are clean water, stopping sprawl, and preserving wilderness and wetlands. We also sponsor "outings" to such places as the Shawnee National Forest in southern Illinois, Jim Edgar State Park in nearby Cass County, and Lincoln Memorial Gardens here in the capitol city. Monthly programs take place the 4th Tuesday of the month, September through May. Executive committee meetings are held on the 1st Tuesday of every month. Please come join us! |
