The RIVER MONITORING NETWORK/WATER SENTINEL PROGRAM of the Sierra Club's River Prairie Group Welcomes You to Participate!

The River Monitoring/Water Sentinel Program:

The Sierra Club's River Prairie Group is monitoring the water quality of two river systems that run through DuPage county. Water samples are being taken at regular intervals along designated collection points on the Salt Creek and the East Branch of the DuPage River. Sierra Club volunteers collect the water samples and analyze them for a number of pollutants including phosphorous , ammonia, and chloride. The data is compiled into a detailed spreadsheet to determine the overall pattern of the water quality of these rivers systems. This data will be used to educate the public on the water quality of these river systems and to persuade the appropriate governmental regulatory agencies to adopt environmental policies that will help to produce cleaner river systems in the DuPage County area.

Volunteers are needed to assist with this project. If you are interested in contributing to the goal of establishing cleaner river systems in the DuPage County area, please consider joining the River Monitoring Network.

To join the River Monitoring Network, please fill out this application and mail it to Bonnie Blake, 1177 Londonberry Rd., Glen Ellyn, IL 60137.
