Saturday, Feb. 4 Eagle Trek at Confluence of the Mississippi & Kaskaskia Rivers Southwestern Illinois Resource Conservation & Development (SWIRCD) invite you to attend their annual Eagle Trek event. The event will be held on Saturday, Feb. 4, from 9 AM – 3 PM at the Kaskaskia Lock & Dam in Modoc, Ill. (4800 Lock and Dam Road). This event encourages residents of southwestern Illinois and the Ste. Genevieve, Mo.-area to get out and experience their open spaces by providing a unique eagle event south of the Alton/St. Louis area. You will have the opportunity to eagle-watch with spotting scopes and meet some of the feathered inhabitants of the World Bird Sanctuary (9 AM – noon). Enjoy short interpreted walks both upstream and downstream from the Dam. See the confluence of the Mississippi & Kaskaskia Rivers. Experts will have knowledge of other eagle-nesting sites nearby (9 AM 7 -3PM). Lunch from a local eatery will be available for a suggested donation of $5/person to cover lunch expenses. Otherwise, this event is free -- families and leash-trained dogs welcome for the hike. Contact Allie McCreary at (618) 566-4451 ext.21 or allie.mccreary@swricd.org to register. Reserve your spot by February 1. For more information regarding Southwestern Illinois Resource Conservation & Development, visit www.swircd.org .
