Join us for cross-country skiing or hiking through rolling hills of the northern Fox Valley in nearby McHenry County. This will be a moderate-intensity cross-country ski trip, about seven miles, around snow-covered prairies, lakes, creeks, and hills that were etched into the earth by glaciers some 10,000 years ago. Come join us on a weekend cross-country ski get-away to scenic Door County. By day, enjoy skiing on trails through Peninsula and Newport State Parks, and by evening enjoy the fine dining and luxury accommodations at the picturesque Landmark Inn. There will also be time to take in some of the local sights and shopping. If conditions are not right, we will hike. Limit 12. Price includes two gourmet dinners out, and three breakfasts. Feb 27 (Sat)  Cross Country Ski Outing at Lapham Peak - South Kettle Moraine State Forest, Delafield, WI

Join us for a day of cross-country skiing at Lapham Peak in South Kettle Moraine State Forest near Delafield, WI. Only about a 90-minute drive from the Chicago area, this is one of the top cross-country ski areas in southern Wisconsin! The park has 17 miles of loop trails and hills of varying degrees of difficulty best enjoyed by intermediate to advanced cross country skiers. In addition, the park has two heated shelters with indoor toilets. After the outing, everyone is welcome to join the trip leaders at the Delefield Brewhaus for dinner and drinks. To register for the trip, call the leader, Rick Szafarz or send him an email at rszafarz@comcast.net. The co-leader is Scott Eteinne. There is a limit of 20 participants. The cost of $10 includes state trail pass, hot drinks, and snacks. This is NOT a hiking trip! Please do not call inquiring about hiking on this outing. Join us for a late winter hike around Lake Defiance and other wetlands in a diverse forest preserve in nearby McHenry County. This will be a moderately paced, six or nine-mile hike with marshes, prairie fields, creeks, and history. Optional 3-mile loop through remote, Pike Marsh. Leader is Scott Etienne. Escape civilization without being far from it. Enjoy a moderate, 8-9-mile hike each day through rolling glacial moraine hills in nearby Wisconsin while reviewing backpack skills, food and equipment. $35 deposit for confirmation covers food, camping and other expenses. May 16 (Sun)  Day hikes at the Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore to view the Spring wildflowers, Chesterton, IN

Join us at the Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore for day hikes in the morning and afternoon. On both hikes, we will be accompanied by Tom Serynek, a native to the Dunes area and a board member of the Save the Dunes Council to view the wild flowers and experience the natural surroundings. The spring wildflowers should be at their peak during this time of the month! In between the two hikes, we will take a lunch break at a picnic area in the park. At the end of the day, there will be an optional sidetrip to nearby Munster, IN to visit the Three Floyds Brew Pub for food, drinks, and good cheer! Limit 20 participants. Join us for the first weekend of summer for a 4-day leisurely hike & swim. Actual backpacking experience is required. Notable features include beaches, wild flowers, wild strawberries, protected wildlife and rustic ruins. Limit: 12.
