Volunteers needed

Release Date:  Thursday, May 17, 2007

Details:

Illinois has always been fortunate to have significant water resources. One of the largest freshwater sources in the world, Lake Michigan, as well as vast groundwater and surface water supplies have been the lifeblood of thriving communities and our natural ecosystems. However, legal restraints limit water withdrawals from Lake Michigan. Additionally, poorly planned development, contamination, the potential for drought posed by global warming and many other concerns threaten our future water supply. As you know, strains on our water resources can have serious negative impacts on our communities and our natural ecosystems. The solution is to plan now for our future needs. Any volunteers interested in addressing water quantity concerns are urged to get involved with the Chapter Water Quantity Committee. To find out how you can help us plan for the future, contact Lynn Rotunno at lrotunno9@yahoo.com.
