Help elect Obama to Senate
Release Date: Sunday, February 15, 2004
Details:
The Illinois Chapter of the Sierra Club has endorsed State Senate Barack Obama for the U.S. Senate seat that Peter Fitzgerald is leaving.
We have worked with Obama for years in Springfield and know him as one of the strongest supporters of environmental protection in the Illinois General Assembly. With a 100 percent environmental voting record we will miss him in Springfield, but in reading the papers you know we need him in Washington, to help reverse the many assaults on our environment coming from the Bush Administration.
But first we have to help him get there, and we need your help. The race in the Democratic primary is a dead heat, and Obama is asking for Sierra Club's help to put him over the top.
There are two ways you can help make sure Illinois' next U.S. Senator is a strong voice for a clean environment:
1. Be sure to vote for Barack Obama in the Democratic primary on Election Day, March 16, and be sure you are registered to vote by Feb. 16.
2. Join us in reaching out to fellow Sierra Club members. Between now and election day, we are going to call every Sierra Club member in Illinois to tell them about our endorsement and to urge them to help elect Obama.
To do this, we need your help, even if only for a couple hours. Please reply to this message or to jennifer.hensley@sierraclub.org, and we will do our best to place you at a location that is close to your home or office.
I hope you can join us - even if only for one time!
PLEASE REPLY IF YOU CAN HELP ELECT OBAMA!
