Sierra Club Kaskaskia Group Illinois Chapter,
Sierra Club

Home

The Kaskaskia Group is named after the Kaskaskia River, a tributary of the Mississippi River.  The Kaskaskia River plays an important role in Illinois at approximately 320-miles Kaskaskia Riverlong and is the second largest river system in the state.

Like the Kaskaskia River, the group strives to play an important role in the community.  We face a variety of new challenges here locally that have the potential to adversely impact the environment and our quality of life.

As a local Sierra Club group, we frequently address water quality and quantity issues, coal waste and threats posed by coal-fired power plants, irresponsible land management and destruction of habitat and green space.   We also strive to offer fun and enjoyable outings highlighting the wonderful things only found in nature.

As we confront these challenges, we need your help and invite you to join us in our efforts to ensure a hospitable planet for future generations!
