Sun Foundation Wetlands Tour - April 29, 7:15 a.m. (Sunday)
Cody Dykes is one of 3 people who has spent many years expanding
the Sun Foundation wetland restoration project near Lacon and will
lead us on a hike of this wetland area on Sunday morning. We will
meet at
Forest Park Nature Center at 7:15 am and carpool to the
Pavillion on the Sun Foundation grounds in Lacon.

HOI Group Meeting - May 16, 7 p.m. (Wednesday)

Illinois River Island Update: Marshall Plumley, Rock Island District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, will present a program on an update of the Illinois River Islands Army Corps construction, and what is known about the functioning of the completed islands at Chillicothe and the status of the Peoria Islands.
HOI Annual Potluck Picnic - June 20, 6:30 p.m. (Wednesday)
Forest Park Nature Center, Peoria Heights.
Picnic and White Elephant Auction: Join us at Forest Park Nature Center for our annual summer potluck picnic and fundraising auction of unusual, useful, and tasty items donated by our members. Meet at the picnic tables behind the Nature Center. Bring a main dish or other food to share, plus your own table service. Iced tea and lemonade will be provided. If you like, don’t forget an item to donate to the auction.

Mark Liebenow will discuss his new book, "Mountains
of Light: Seasons of Reflection in Yosemite". In Mountains of
Light, Liebenow takes us deep into the heart of this wilderness,
introducing us to its grand and subtle marvels—and to the
observations, reflections, and insights its scenery evokes. Acting
as our guide, Liebenow calls on the spirit and legacy of naturalist
John Muir to rediscover nature and recover his own exuberance for
life.
