Draft Abridged Minutes of Executive Committee Meeting

Motion: by Roger Ricketts and seconded by Fran Caffee to approve the January and March 2004 minutes, with the following changes on the March minutes: under 5.1 make 2 changes:

  1. for IL Chapter to delegate to the Political Committee endorsement of Barack Obama as U.S. Senator;

  2. to endorse Melissa Bean of the 8th District for U.S. Congress.

Vote: all for. Motion carried unanimously.

 

Motion: by Roger Ricketts and seconded by Barb McKasson for IL Chapter to recommend endorsement of Democrat, Tim Bagwell, for Congress from the Illinois 19th Congressional District.

Vote: 13 for; 0 opposed; no abstentions. Motion carried.

 

Motion: by Christine Williamson and seconded by Cory Jones for Illinois Chapter to approve the work plan and budget as proposed, contingent upon fundraising.

Vote: all for. Motion carried.

 

Motion: by Roger Ricketts and seconded by Fran Caffee to approve the appointment of the following individuals to the Fundraising Committee: Bill Davies, Carol Herndon, Tom Prost, Rand Sparling, with Jack Darin from Chapter office.

Vote: all for. Motion carried.

 

Motion: by Christine Williamson and seconded by Cory Jones for Illinois Chapter to approve the following Sierra Club members in good standing as members of the Conservation Committee:

  • Albert Ettinger (Water Campaign),
  • Rand Sparling (IEC),
  • Cory Jones (Land Campaign/Chicago Group),
  • Fran Caffee (Valley of the Fox),
  • Barb McKasson (Shawnee Campaign/Shawnee Group),
  • Jim Bensman (Shawnee Campaign Chair/Piasa Palisades Group),
  • Lynne Rotuno (Alaska Issues/River Prairie Group),
  • Christine Williamson (Land Campaign Chair/ConCom Chair/Chicago Group),
  • Bryn Horton (Land Campaign/Northwest Cook Group),
  • Mark Beorkrem (Mississippi River Task Force Chair/Water Campaign),
  • Deanna Doohaluk (Water Campaign Chair/Chicago Group),

Motion: by Cory Jones and seconded by Christine Williamson for Illinois Chapter to support Commissioner Mike Quigley’s Land use Policy Resolution.

Vote: all for. Motion carried.

 

Motion: by Tom Prost and seconded by Fran Caffee for the following to make up the Nominating Committee: Bill Davies, Angela Prost, and Edith Sieg.

Vote: all for. Motion carried.

 

Motion: by Fran Caffee and seconded by Roger Ricketts for Illinois Chapter to approve expenses up to $500 for delegates to attend MRCC Big River Week.

Vote: all for. Motion carried.

 

Bill Davies announced that the July 2004 ExCom meeting might be held later in the month, and to look for more details on the Listserv.
