Jackpots!

Candace Marner will explain that "jackpots" are not just a gambling term! As the crew leader of some very hardworking dedicated young people that are supported by a U.S. Forest Service Grant through Rock Island Soil and Water Conservation District (and others), Candace's excellent presentation will show how they are mitigating hazardous fuels such as "jackpots" which are large concentrations of downed timber and invasive species in Black Hawk State Historic Site, West Lake Park and other wooded in areas in our local counties. Their efforts are returning mature forests back to their natural beauty after the 2008 straight line 75 mph winds that tore through our communities.

River Clean Up Photos!

A nice turnout for the cleanup helped make our chore easier. Thank you to Kris Bergren, Judy Kasper and her grandchildren, Bryane and Dylan,  and Craig and Diane Sommers.  It was a hot humid morning but we finished the job before the rain.
