About Us
The Clean Air Campaign of the Illinois Sierra Club works
to ...
- Restore and protect clean and healthy air for all residents
throughout Illinois and minimize the state’s contribution
to air pollution in downwind states;
- Reduce, and eliminate where possible, the emissions of
the most toxic and persistent air pollutants, such as mercury
and dioxin, that are threatening the Great Lakes
ecosystem, including our food supply and wildlife populations;
- Stabilize, and begin to reduce, statewide emissions of
global warming pollution and minimize the threat that
global warming poses to the Great Lakes ecosystem; and
- Build public support for state and federal action to
restore and protect healthy air throughout Illinois and hold
elected officials accountable for actions affecting clean
air.
