  • Pass the Word - Anyone can be a volunteer by downloading, printing and passing around the flyers linked below to help make Sierra Club known in your neighborhood or in events that you attend. Print these PDFs on bright color paper, if available. Thanks for your help in drawing others to our mission! Half-page flyer for posting or handout.  Tear-off flyer for bulletin boards.
     

  • Social Events Coordinators – Do you like to dine out, go to parties, meet new people? If so, help set up social get-togethers for the Sierra Social Group. It’s fun and easy!   • Cook County United - Cook County United is a tri-group effort by the Chicago, Northwest Cook and Sauk-Calumet Groups to bring activists together who are interested in working on environmental issues at the county level. A little less than half – about 12,000 - of the entire membership of the Illinois Chapter of the Sierra Club live in Cook County. We are rich in public lands with 67,000 acres in county control, but are poor when it comes to having  enough county-level politicians who care about the environment. A core of volunteers is needed to work on land management and protection, nature education and stewardship in the Cook County forest preserves. Contact Christine Williamson at birdchris@aol.com.

  • Program Committee - Committee members are needed to plan Chicago Group meetings.  Includes contacting / scheduling program speakers, contacting media to advertise programs through community and student newspapers, greeting attendees, introducing program speakers, and delivering announcements.  Time commitment of 2-4 hours quarterly.   • Assistant Webmaster - The Chicago Group Webmaster is looking for an assistant to help convert articles, such as published in the quarterly Wild Onion, and special group announcements into Web page format. Requires basic Web page skills and FrontPage or similar graphical Web page editor. Also needed is programmer experience in ASP scripting for a special database project.   • ICO Volunteers - Inner City Outings of Chicago – a youth outreach program designed to acquaint inner-city youth with the great outdoors – is looking for motivated people to introduce young people to the outdoors.
