Mayor - Rohm Emanuel  Won HUFFINGTON POST SIERRA PRESS RELEASE

The Sierra Club proudly endorses Rahm Emanuel for Mayor. With a solid track
record of supporting environmental issues, such as the Great Lakes Compact, he will continue to be an advocate in City Hall. Emanuel supports making Chicago the "Bike Capital of America", increasing the quality of Chicago's green spaces, completing Northerly Island, expanding the CTA Red Line further south and creating green jobs throughout the city.
   
City Clerk - Susana Mendoza  Won SIERRA PRESS RELEASE

As a member of the Illinois General Assembly, Susana Mendoza has been one of the
most proactive members on environmental issues, including pushing for the Illinois Clean
Car Act. As City Clerk, Mendoza will be a champion for clean cars in Chicago. She
supports the goal of incentivizing the purchase of electric cars and other clean
vehicles. Mendoza will continue to be a leader for Sierra Club priorities.

Ward 1: Alderman Joe Moreno  Won SIERRA PRESS RELEASE

As a co-sponsor of the Chicago Clean Power Ordinance, Alderman Joe Moreno has a
great track record of supporting environmental issues. Moreno worked hard to improve his
Ward’s recycling by 20%. He also supports designating new parking spaces for I-Go and
Zip cars and finding better ways to connect the existing CTA infrastructure. Moreno will
also be an advocate for strengthening Chicago’s Department of the Environment.
 
Ward 2: Alderman Bob Fioretti  Won SIERRA PRESS RELEASE

As a life member of the Sierra Club and co-sponsor of the Chicago Clean Power
Ordinance, Sierra Club proudly endorses Alderman Bob Fioretti. He has supported new
traffic strategies to make his Ward more pedestrian-friendly, planted 1,500 trees in the
last four years, increased recycling in his Ward, and hosted regular Green Clean-Up Days.
With ideas to improve public transportation, facilitate the modernization of the city’s
aging infrastructure, and install LED lighting in all public buildings, Bob Fioretti is a
strong ally in making Chicago greener.
 
Ward 4: Will Burns  Won SIERRA PRESS RELEASE

As a member of the Illinois General Assembly, Will Burns has been a leading
advocate for environmental issues. As a State Representative, he opposed the building of
the Leucadia coal gasification power plant on the south side of Chicago and worked to ban
BPA. Burns will work hard to ban styrofoam in the Chicago public school system and get
the federal government to help pay for improvements to the CTA system. Having supported
Will Burns for State Representative in the past, the Sierra Club now proudly endorses him
for Alderman.

As a co-sponsor of the Chicago Clean Power Ordinance, Sierra Club proudly
endorses Alderman Leslie Hairston for another term. She has worked tirelessly to bring
two new LEED certified schools into her Ward and find places for people to park I-GO and
Zip cars. It was her idea to begin Chicago’s city-wide recycling program and continues to
stand by expanding the program into more Wards.

As a leader in her community, Alderman Freddrenna Lyle has worked fiercely to
create a sustainable community in her Ward. She helped to transform Chicago State
University into a leading environmental research institution, has previously worked on a
geo-thermal housing project for her Ward, and is an important co-sponsor to the Chicago
Clean Power Ordinance. Being a proponent of community composting, building
weatherization, and urban farming the Sierra Club enthusiastically endorses Alderman Lyle
for another term.
 
Ward 7: Alderman Sandi Jackson  Won SIERRA PRESS RELEASE

Alderman Sandi Jackson has a proven track record of working with the Sierra Club
and she is proudly endorsed for another term. She is a co-sponsor of the Chicago Clean
Power Ordinance. She has supported LEED-certified buildings in her Ward, has made it more pedestrian-friendly, and has plans to create more connection points on trains to help
reduce the need for commuting by car. Additionally, Alderman Jackson supports creating
more green jobs in Chicago and offering incentives for Chicagoans to buy electric cars.

Ward and wants to better utilize more open spaces in his Ward. Ervin supports the Green

Reboyras has been a key co-sponsor of the Chicago Power Ordinance. He supports the

Harry Osterman has been a leading advocate for environmental issues in the
Illinois General Assembly, and the Sierra Club supports his run for Alderman. Osterman
