Blooms: early May - mid June
While Yellow Lady's Slipper is fairly rare, it can be found around parts of southern and northern Illinois in woodland and bog areas and grows well in areas that have been effected by woodland fires. It is a native perennial plant, and usually grows to a height of 1 to 2.5 feet. The stem of the plant tends to be thick and hairy with dark green leaves extending outward. The flower of the plant is a yellow forms a unique dish shape that resembles a slipper or a pouch.
