Family Weekend in the Woods
Enjoy a weekend at Jasmine
Hollow along the Sangamon River in Piat County. Tour the wooded 140
acres owned and stewarded by Jim and Mare Payne south of Allerton Park
near Monticello, IL. Spring wildflowers will be in bloom and it's
possible we might find a morel mushroom or two. Be prepared to pull
garlic mustard too, and learn why it is important to control this
invasive plant.
There is a cabin for cooking and plenty of space to pitch a tent. Three
meals are included: dinner Saturday night and breakfast and lunch on
Sunday. The price is $15 per adult, and $8 per child under 15.

Canoe, Hike, Camps at Kickapoo State Park
Adult group
camping at Kickapoo State Park. There is canoeing on the Middle Fork as
well as other locations in the area. Kickapoo also offers hiking and
mountain biking. We will camp in the group site, which is on the
primitive side with picnic tables, fire rings. and pit toilets. We will
provide drinking and cooking water and two breakfasts, lunches, and
dinners meals for Fri. night to noon on Sat. You provide your personal
camping equipment including your own eating devices (plates, silverware,
cups).
On Sat. we are hoping to have a guided canoe tour on the Middle Fork, or
you can hike, bike, or just enjoy the day. Food will be provided, but we
ask participants to help with the cooking and cleaning up group kitchen
equipment. The price is $20 per person, plus canoe rental if needed.
