Water Team Meeting • Fight aquatic invasives! Join us to advocate for clean water and aquatic habitat protection in the greater Chicago waterways.
May. 5-6 Green Festival @ Navy Pier • Volunteers Needed
2012 will be Sierra's 5th presence at Green Fest, the largest area event focusing on sustainability and green technology. Sierra Club members are admitted free by showing their membership card!
 

This year we will be tabling in front of the Sierra sponsored
Green Cinema film shorts, located by the food court. Therefore, Sierra Club volunteers are needed to help to staff our very visible table to provide information on climate and environmental challenges and general information on Sierra Club outings and activities.
 
How you can help:
Doing set-up or outreach for 2 hours on Saturday or Sunday by tabling at Sierra's Green Cinema next to the food court.
 
May 5 (Sat) 12:00 noon to 8:00 pm (set-up help needed at 11:00 am)
May 6 (Sun) 11:00 am to 7:00 pm

Sunday Night Social in May • Dine with your fellow Sierra Club members at Dave's Italian Kitchen, a favorite gathering place in Evanston. The restaurant is located in downtown Evanston at 1635 Chicago Avenue between Church & Davis Street. There is a limit of 20 people for this event, so please reserve in advance by e-mailing Alice Reed at aereed22@yahoo.com.

Annual Cubs Fundraiser • Our annual Cubs outings are a fun, popular way to watch baseball and benefit the conservation activities of the Chicago Group. Our tickets are being sold for $20 each, with $5.85 going toward support of Chicago Group’s many conservation initiatives. Contact Christine Williamson at birdchris@aol.com and be sure to indicate how many seats you want. Your tickets are reserved upon receipt of your check.

May.12 Day Hike #2 Along the Des Plaines River Trail • We will begin at the southern end of the trail in River Forest covering 8-10 miles. This section should be alive with spring wildflowers as we traverse by some historic Indian sites.
May.25-28 Canoeing the Pine River, Cadillac, MI • A traditional trip for over 20 years. The Pine challenges experienced canoeists with its many twists and turns, small rapids, and strainers through the Manistee National Forest.
Jun.3 Day Hike #3 Along the Des Plaines River Trail • Join us along a nicely wooded section of the Des Plaines River Trail. Learn why the Potowatami Indians used this river as a major transportation route during their stay in the area. We will explore 12 miles along the mid section of this trail.
