-developments that leapfrog over areas of farmland to plant buildings in the
midst of pristine prairie
-proposed housing developments, strip malls and big box stores that are usually
facilitated when local governments extend water and sewer lines through farmland
-roads that now go nowhere
-anything ugly, energy-inefficient, or of bad design
-inefficient use of resources
-destruction of wildlife habitat
